About
Scoil Fhursa is an all‑boys Catholic national school situated in the heart of Kilmore West, Dublin 5. The school serves a close‑knit community of 208 pupils and operates with a favourable teacher‑to‑pupil ratio of 20:1, allowing for personalised attention and small‑class learning. As a DEIS Band 1 school, Scoil Fhursa delivers a robust academic programme while placing equal emphasis on values, life‑skills and holistic development. The curriculum is underpinned by a “learn‑based” approach that integrates outdoor learning, a school garden and a strong Green Schools ethos, encouraging sustainable attainment and environmental stewardship. The school’s ethos is rooted in Catholic tradition, promoting inclusivity, respect for diversity and a child‑centred education that prepares pupils for the sacraments and for active participation in Irish society. Key support structures include a comprehensive anti‑bullying policy, child‑safeguarding framework, Discipline for Learning programme, Home‑School Community Liaison and Social Personal Health Education. Additional provisions such as free nutritious lunches, an 8‑year partnership model and a focus on wellbeing ensure that each child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
History
Scoil Fhursa was established in the late 1960s as an all‑boys Catholic national school in Kilmore West. At its inception the school enrolled over 880 boys. Over the decades enrolment has been reduced to a more manageable size, with the current roll standing at 208 pupils and class sizes maintained at a 20:1 ratio. The school continues to build on its long‑standing commitment to academic excellence, Catholic values and community involvement.
