About

Scoil Íde is a vibrant primary school serving the Parish of St Nicholas and surrounding communities in Limerick. Established in 1964, the school now educates just over seven hundred pupils and employs a dedicated team of teaching and special‑needs staff. The curriculum is grounded in a solid academic foundation while encouraging curiosity and a love of learning, aiming to develop each child’s talents and potential. The school operates within a strong Catholic ethos, fostering moral and spiritual development alongside academic progress. Respect, consideration and community spirit are central to daily life, with pupils encouraged to engage confidently with the wider world. Recent developments include the planned introduction of two specialist autism classes in September 2026, reflecting a commitment to inclusive education and support for diverse learning needs. Facilities comprise a range of classrooms, specialist support spaces and communal areas that support both mainstream and special‑needs provision, creating a safe and nurturing environment for all students.

History

Scoil Íde opened in September 1964 with three classrooms and was originally run by the Mercy Order for the Parish of St Mary’s. The school later came under the patronage of the Bishop of Limerick and has grown to become a central educational hub for the local community.
