Scoil Lorcáin Boys National School is a Catholic primary school for boys, catering for approximately 335 pupils. Situated just off Airport Road on the outskirts of Waterford City in the St John’s Park area, the school provides a well‑ordered, friendly environment where each child is encouraged to reach his full potential. The ethos is built on mutual respect, a professional and caring staff, and strong partnership with parents and the wider community. The school places a particular emphasis on a balanced curriculum that includes a robust sporting tradition, with Gaelic football, hurling, soccer and basketball featuring prominently. A broad range of learning experiences are offered within a safe, happy and inclusive setting, aiming to develop the intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual dimensions of every pupil.
History
Scoil Lorcáin was founded in 1959 by the Christian Brothers. In 1986 the school was transferred to the trusteeship of the Sacred Heart Parish, continuing its mission under Catholic patronage.
