About
Scoil Mhuire Buncrana is a co‑educational Catholic secondary school operating under the trusteeship of CEIST (Catholic Education an Irish Schools Trust). Drawing on the Mercy tradition founded by Catherine McAuley, the school aims to nurture each pupil academically, personally and spiritually. A strong emphasis is placed on high academic standards, with students regularly achieving top results in the State Examinations and progressing to a wide range of further‑education and career pathways. The curriculum is broad and balanced, encompassing the Junior Cycle, a dedicated Transition Year programme, and a variety of Leaving Certificate options including the Established, Applied and Vocational programmes. Beyond the classroom, Scoil Mhuire offers a rich extra‑curricular programme that supports the development of talent and leadership. Pupils can take part in a wide selection of sports, music ensembles, choir, the Scifest Club, and environmental initiatives such as the Cli‑Mates programme. The school also organises educational trips and provides facilities designed to enhance both academic learning and co‑curricular activities, fostering a vibrant community where students are encouraged to explore interests, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning.
