About
Scoil Mhuire is a busy Catholic co‑educational primary school situated in Lucan, west Dublin, close to the River Liffey and the border with County Kildare. The school serves the local community from Junior Infants through to 6th Class, with approximately 490 pupils enrolled. Class provision is robust, offering two classes at each level (with some levels having three) and dedicated provision for autistic children through two specialist classes. A team of 29 teachers, supported by 12 special needs assistants, a secretary and a caretaker, delivers a broad curriculum that balances academic learning with a strong emphasis on sport, music, drama and digital literacy. The school’s ethos is firmly rooted in the Catholic tradition, fostering respect for God, self and others regardless of background. An active Parents’ Association meets monthly to organise events and support school life, reinforcing a close‑knit community spirit. Facilities include a library, dedicated spaces for creative and digital learning, and programmes such as Green Schools and Creative Schools that promote environmental awareness and artistic development.
