About

Scoil Moibhi is a small, four‑teacher primary school situated in the historic townland of Balcunnin, Skerries, Co. Dublin. Set on land that once formed part of the Milverton Demesne, the school serves the local community with a close‑knit, child‑centred approach that blends traditional values with contemporary teaching methods. As a Catholic‑maintained school, it integrates faith‑based activities such as regular masses, sacraments and liturgical celebrations into the curriculum, fostering a supportive environment for spiritual and personal growth. The school offers a broad range of extra‑curricular activities and places a strong emphasis on wellbeing, guided by a dedicated Wellbeing Policy and a Student Charter for the 2025/26 academic year. Its curriculum aligns with the Dublin Diocesan Admission Policy and incorporates modern resources to enhance literacy, numeracy and digital skills. A clear Code of Behaviour underpins a respectful community ethos, while regular noticeboard updates and a detailed school calendar keep families informed of events, holidays and important dates.

History

Scoil Moibhi, locally known as Milverton National School, was constructed in 1902 and opened on 23 May 1903, originally under the leadership of Mrs Mary Reilly. The school occupies the former Grange National School site and has operated continuously through two World Wars, the Irish Civil War and the evolution of the Irish state. Over more than a century it has educated generations of pupils, witnessing milestones from the Wright brothers’ first flight to the moon landing, and reflecting the social changes from British rule to the modern Republic of Ireland.
