About
St Paul’s CBS, Brunner Primary is a Catholic boys’ primary school situated on North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7, operating under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust. The school embraces a strong Catholic ethos rooted in the tradition of the Christian Brothers, fostering a community where spiritual development, respect and service are integral to everyday learning. The school combines historic and contemporary architecture, with the original 1869 building linked to a modern extension at the entrance, providing a blend of traditional character and up‑to‑date facilities. Classrooms are organised for junior and senior infants through to sixth class, supporting a curriculum that balances academic rigour with creative expression, as evidenced by the emphasis on student‑produced videos and other work showcased on the website. With a current enrolment of around 160 pupils, Brunner Primary offers a medium‑sized urban environment that encourages personalised attention while maintaining a vibrant school life, including extracurricular activities and a supportive pastoral framework for all students.
History
The school opened in 1869, originally comprising four large rooms and two smaller ones and serving 300 barefoot pupils. The original building still stands, now integrated with newer structures to form a mixed‑age, urban school of approximately 160 pupils.
