About

Scoil an Áird is a rural, co‑educational Catholic primary school situated in Ardfield, a short distance from the centre of Clonakilty and the Red Strand Beach in County Cork. The school provides a vibrant, child‑centred learning environment where each pupil is treated as an individual and is at the heart of the educational process. A strong emphasis is placed on active learning and creativity, supported by a well‑ordered, caring and secure atmosphere that nurtures intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural development. While the school follows a Catholic ethos, it recognises and respects other faiths, promotes gender equity and embraces diversity and inclusivity, with a particular focus on the Irish language. The school serves approximately 111 children across five mainstream classes and three support teachers, offering a balanced programme that includes regular swimming lessons, science excursions to University of Limerick, participation in Cork City Sports at MTU and a Healthy Lunch Policy. Uniform provisions include a school tracksuit for sport, and the school operates a structured timetable with clear break and lunch periods. The motto “Be the Best I can Be” (BTBICB) underpins the community’s commitment to personal and academic excellence.
