About

Scoil Bhríde is a vibrant primary school in Clane that prides itself on providing a caring, inclusive environment where every child can thrive. The school’s ethos centres on the full and harmonious development of pupils – intellectually, physically, culturally, morally and spiritually – and it promotes relationships built on respect, kindness and diversity. A supportive community of staff, parents and students works together to achieve progress and excellence across all areas of school life, fostering a warm atmosphere in which children feel at ease to learn and explore. The school benefits from modern facilities, including a ten‑classroom extension and GP halls that were added in 2015, enhancing space for both academic and extracurricular activities. Recent refurbishments have created a contemporary learning centre that serves as a hub for the wider community, while dedicated resources support special educational needs and a range of curriculum programmes. These provisions, together with a strong focus on holistic development, make Scoil Bhríde a welcoming place for children to grow and succeed.

History

Scoil Bhríde traces its origins to the Presentation Sisters who founded a convent in Clane in 1839 under Mother Teresa Brennan. Initially an orphanage built around 1818, the Sisters began teaching reading, writing, arithmetic and religious instruction. After a major renovation in 1929 the school passed into parochial ownership and continued to serve the community into the 1980s. In the early 1970s Sr Perpetua Lonergan secured a large field for three new schools, and following extensive lobbying, a state‑of‑the‑art building was completed in June 1982. Subsequent developments have included a ten‑classroom extension opened in 2015, reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to modern, inclusive education.
