About
Scoil Náisiúnta Chiaráin Naofa is a co‑educational primary school situated in Stoneyford, County Kilkenny. It caters for children from Junior Infants through to Sixth Class, with a current roll of roughly 130 pupils supported by a team of teaching staff, special needs assistants, bus escorts and a caretaker. The school operates a structured day beginning at 9.00 am, with Infants finishing at 1.40 pm and the remaining classes at 2.40 pm. The school places a strong emphasis on the Irish language, using Gaeilge informally throughout the school day and integrating it across the curriculum. Inclusion is central to its ethos: a dedicated special class for pupils with autism was opened in September 2023, followed by a second class for pupils with moderate general learning difficulties in September 2024. While the school follows a Catholic ethos under the patronage of the Bishop of Ossory, it welcomes children of all faiths and none, striving to create a safe, happy and valued environment where every pupil can reach their potential.
