About

Scoil Naisiunta Chrion Choill is a small rural primary school situated in the parish of Lisdowney, north Kilkenny. It caters for roughly twenty‑nine pupils across the junior and senior infant classes, providing a close‑knit community atmosphere where each child receives personalised attention. The school places a strong emphasis on a balanced curriculum that blends academic learning with creative and physical development. Weekly music sessions under the “Ceoil Cliste” programme introduce children to new instruments and musical literacy, while regular gymnastics and swimming sessions support physical wellbeing and coordination. The campus was comprehensively refurbished in 2007 and is maintained to a high standard by dedicated caretakers. Extensive outdoor facilities include a hurling pitch, large play areas and well‑tended gardens that are used for planting and outdoor learning activities. The school also offers specialised support for pupils with additional needs, including a special education teacher and a special needs assistant, ensuring an inclusive environment for all learners.

History

The school underwent a complete refurbishment in 2007, modernising its classrooms and facilities while preserving its rural character. Since then it has continued to serve the local community as a primary education centre.
