About

Scoil Naisiunta Iognaid is a full‑Irish medium primary school founded in 1971 and situated on Raleigh Row in the centre of Galway City. The school delivers its curriculum entirely through the Irish language, with both teachers and pupils communicating in Irish, while also providing English instruction as a second language. Its ethos is rooted in fostering a peaceful, caring environment where every child’s intellectual, physical, cultural, moral, spiritual, social and emotional development is nurtured, underpinned by Christian values. The school boasts a wide range of facilities to support a balanced education. There are dedicated spaces for music, sport, art and drama, together with a modern computer suite used by all pupils from Rang 1 to Rang 6. A well‑stocked library serves the whole school, offering a regular borrowing service for children in Rang 3–6. An active Parents’ Association encourages community involvement, and the curriculum places strong emphasis on Irish heritage through music, dance, games, history and literature, complemented by programmes such as robotics for the older classes.
