About

Scoil Naisiunta Moing na Miol (Bweeng National School) is a rural co‑educational primary school located in Bweeng, Clashbee, about 13.5 km southwest of Mallow. The school provides a warm, caring and disciplined environment where pupils feel secure and happy, and it follows the national curriculum set by the Department of Education and Science, covering English, Maths, Gaeilge, SESE, SPHE, Music/Arts/Drama, PE and Religion. As a Catholic patronage school it welcomes children of all faiths and nationalities, respecting their beliefs and cultures while fostering a love of learning and personal development. The school benefits from modern, well‑resourced facilities. Recent building works have added new classrooms, a special class and a resource room, and the campus includes an indoor PE hall, two autism‑specific classrooms, a sensory room, a school garden and two yard spaces. An astro‑turf pitch, interactive whiteboards in every classroom, and a range of laptops and iPads support contemporary teaching and learning. An EU grant in 2021 upgraded Wi‑Fi and provided additional digital devices, helping to bridge the digital divide for learners at risk of disadvantage.

History

The original school building opened on the site in 1953. It was extended and refurbished with a Department of Education grant in 2007/08, adding two new classrooms, an office, staff room and multi‑purpose hall. Further classrooms were added in 2012 and 2015, and in 2025 a special class and resource room were completed, reflecting ongoing development of the school’s facilities.
