About

Bayside Senior National School (Scoil Naisiunta Muire agus Iosef) is a mixed Catholic senior primary school serving pupils from 3rd to 6th class. The school operates a full‑day timetable, opening at 9.00 am and closing at 2.40 pm, and provides 16 mainstream classrooms centred around two spacious outdoor courtyards. Situated in the coastal suburb of Bayside, Sutton, the school benefits from a safe, community‑focused environment close to the sea. The ethos is rooted in a living Catholic faith and a holistic educational philosophy that nurtures intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development. Learning is delivered through a wide range of initiatives, including Green Schools, STEAM programmes, Creative Cluster, Science Blast, Minecraft for Education, and the European Blue School project. A strong emphasis is placed on physical wellbeing and extracurricular participation, with activities such as the Daily Mile, Marathon Kids, tennis, GAA, athletics, tag rugby, squash, ukulele and the National Children’s Choir. Recent investment in high‑speed broadband and additional Chromebooks under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan further supports digital learning and bridges the digital divide.

History

The school was established in 1976 under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin. It celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2016, marking four decades of service to the Bayside community while maintaining its denominational character and commitment to a caring, interactive relationship between staff and pupils.
