About
Scoil Naisiunta Na Cloiche Moire is a rural, Catholic, co‑educational national school situated on the tri‑county border of Carlow, Wicklow and Kildare. Operating under the patronage of the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, the school delivers the Irish primary curriculum with a strong emphasis on spiritual, moral and physical development alongside academic achievement. The school community values close ties with local families and the wider parish, encouraging active parental involvement and partnership with the Board of Management and the Parents Association. The campus benefits from a modern extension completed in 2006 and opened in February 2007, providing contemporary classrooms and specialist spaces for both the Junior and Senior Rooms. Its proximity to the Bigstone Community Hall, located just across the road, offers additional facilities for sports, assemblies and community events. A vibrant programme of extracurricular activities—including music, science investigations, maths workshops and annual fundraising walks—supports a holistic education that nurtures curiosity, creativity and wellbeing.
History
Scoil Naisiunta Na Cloiche Moire was founded in 1896 to serve the local rural community. In response to growing enrolments, a new extension was constructed in 2006 and officially opened in February 2007, expanding the school’s capacity and modernising its learning environment.
