About
Scoil Naithí is a full‑time Irish‑medium primary school (Gaelscoil) situated in Dublin, operating under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin and in accordance with the rules of the Department of Education. The school follows a child‑centred curriculum that recognises the individuality of each pupil and seeks to develop intellectual, physical, cultural, moral, spiritual, social and emotional capacities. A strong emphasis is placed on the Irish language and culture, with daily opportunities for children to engage in Irish games, music, dance and traditional activities, while also promoting good Christian values and parental involvement in school life. The campus comprises eight mixed‑gender classrooms, an additional specialist room, a large multipurpose hall, and a purpose‑built theatre (Amharclann) at the rear of the school. The PE Hall, extended in 1993, provides space for sport and physical education, and the on‑site Naíonra Naithí offers early years provision on the same grounds, though it operates independently. These facilities support a vibrant, supportive environment that encourages pupils to thrive academically and socially within a nurturing, peaceful setting.
History
Scoil Naithí was founded in 1973 by a group of local parents who wanted an Irish‑medium education for children in the area. Classes were initially held in pre‑fabricated rooms until the school building was completed in 1980. In 1993 the school expanded with the construction of the Amharclann Naithí and the Naíonra Naithí, further enhancing its provision for both primary and early years education.
