About

Scoil Naomh Eoin is a mixed primary school situated in the rural setting of Ballincurrig, East Cork, within Lisgoold parish and a short distance from Midleton. The school operates under a Catholic ethos with the patronage of the Bishop of Cloyne and the auspices of the Department of Education and Skills, while also recognising and respecting other faiths. It offers a caring, holistic learning environment that prioritises small class sizes so each pupil receives personalised attention and support. The present school building, opened in 1968, provides spacious classrooms, a dedicated basketball court and well‑maintained hurling and football pitches, enabling a broad programme of extracurricular activities. Pupils are encouraged to develop confidence and social skills through initiatives such as Active Play, Lunchtime Pals, handball, hurling, camogie, African drumming workshops and the WiseWater Wellness programme. The school’s motto, “Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh siad” (Praise the young and they will thrive), reflects its commitment to nurturing each child’s strengths within a supportive community.

History

Scoil Naomh Eoin was founded in 1846. In 1968 the school moved to its current premises, which include a basketball court and playing fields for hurling and football. The community marked the 50th anniversary of the present location in September 2018.
