About

Scoil Íde is a mixed‑gender primary school situated on New Road in Clondalkin, approximately 12 km from Dublin city centre. It provides education for girls from Junior Infants through to 6th Class and for boys from Junior Infants to 1st Class, together with a dedicated ASD classroom. As a Catholic‑maintained school founded in 1969, it embraces a caring, tolerant ethos that welcomes families of all denominations and promotes cooperation between home and school. The school follows a broad, balanced curriculum that includes a strong emphasis on STEM, digital activities, mathematics, and healthy living programmes such as Food Dudes. Extra‑curricular provision covers GAA, volleyball, and a range of after‑school clubs, supporting the holistic development of pupils. Modern facilities were expanded with a new building opened in 2005, providing contemporary learning spaces that cater to the diverse needs of its student body. Scoil Íde’s mission is to nurture the intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual growth of each child, preparing them for personal, family, working and community life. The school’s vision stresses the formation of a Catholic faith foundation while fostering an inclusive, multi‑denominational community.

History

Scoil Íde was founded in 1969 by the Presentation Sisters to educate girls from Junior Infants to 6th Class and boys from Junior Infants to 1st Class. Sister Brigid served as the first principal, with an initial enrolment of 322 pupils in September 1969. The school has always occupied its present site; in the early 2000s the Department of Education and Science approved an extension, and the “New Building” was officially opened in 2005. A 50th‑anniversary celebration took place in 2019, culminating in a week‑long programme and a tree‑planting ceremony. In November 2020, Catherine Keane was appointed principal to lead the school into its next phase of growth and development.
