About
Scoil Naomh Lorcáin is a mainstream, rural, co‑educational primary school located in the scenic village of Levitstown, Maganey, County Kildare. The school operates with a small, dedicated team of four teachers, including a teaching principal, two mainstream class teachers, a Special Education Teacher and a Special Needs Assistant, enabling personalised support for all pupils. The curriculum follows the Department of Education & Skills prescribed programme and is delivered in an innovative and creative manner, encouraging enquiry‑based learning across the core subjects as well as a strong emphasis on science, technology and sport, areas in which the school has received multiple awards. The ethos of Scoil Naomh Lorcáin is rooted in its Catholic foundation while respecting other religious beliefs, fostering a caring, happy and secure atmosphere that addresses the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of each child. The school’s motto, *Déanfaimid ár ndícheall i gcónaí* (“We will always do our best”), underpins a whole‑school commitment to high standards, gender equity and the development of self‑esteem, responsibility and respect for people and property. A vibrant programme of extracurricular activities enriches pupil experience, ranging from Tag Rugby Blitzes and farm visits to participation in the Food Dudes programme, World Book Day celebrations, a school‑produced Irish‑language podcast for RTÉ Junior, and cultural outings such as a performance of *War Horse* in Dublin. Strong parental involvement is encouraged through the Levitstown Parents Association and regular communication via the school’s blog and social media channels.
