About
Scoil Naomh Mhuire is a rural primary school located on the northern tip of the Inishowen Peninsula, just two miles from Ireland’s most northerly point. Perched on an elevated site, the school enjoys panoramic views that stretch westward across the spectacular coastal scenery of Fanad Head and Horn Head. The catch‑area is a close‑knit farming community, and the school serves families from the surrounding small‑holder farms, fostering a strong sense of local identity and belonging. The main school building dates from 1960 and retains a traditional layout centred on a purpose‑built classroom area. Facilities include a dedicated remedial room for additional learning support, a staff room, modern toilets and a store area. The school’s ethos emphasises inclusive education, with provision for remedial teaching and a range of policies that support pupil welfare, such as the Exceptional Closure Policy and the Stay Safe Programme. Active parental involvement is encouraged through a Parents’ Association, and the school maintains up‑to‑date educational resources via its online links and enrolment procedures.
