About

Maree National School is a rural, Catholic, co‑educational primary school situated in Maree, near Oranmore in County Galway. The school serves a vibrant community of over 230 pupils across nine mainstream classes, providing a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to develop their talents and become confident, caring members of society. The ethos is summed up in the Irish saying “Ní neart go cur le chéile” – there is strength in unity – reflecting a focus on collaboration and community spirit. The school’s mission is to offer a warm, safe and caring setting that supports the holistic development of each child. Academic learning is balanced with social, emotional, moral, spiritual and personal growth, ensuring pupils reach their full potential. Uniforms are not required; instead, students are invited to wear functional, practical clothing that allows full participation in daily activities, promoting individuality and self‑expression. Support structures include dedicated support teachers and special needs assistants, ensuring inclusive education for all learners. The school operates from 8.50 am to 2.30 pm (with a shorter day for junior and senior infants), and maintains strong links with families and the wider community through regular communication and engagement initiatives.
