About
St. Michael’s Church of Ireland National School is a multigrade, co‑educational primary school situated on Church Road in Blackrock, Cork. Operating under the patronage of the Right Reverend Dr Paul Colton, the school provides four mainstream classes together with two specialist autism classes, positioning itself as a Neurodiverse‑Affirmative and Restorative Practice school. Children of all denominations are welcomed, receiving basic Christian teachings while being encouraged to respect a diversity of beliefs. The school’s learning environment is supported by well‑equipped classrooms that feature interactive whiteboards and a dedicated support room for additional needs. A range of enrichment initiatives—including the Active School Flag, Discovery Primary Science and the Green School Flag—complement the curriculum, while a school garden and ICT resources further enhance experiential learning. A beloved school dog, Biscuit, helps foster a warm community spirit, and the partnership with the Sherpa Kids Afterschool Care Programme offers safe, engaging care beyond regular hours. Regular whole‑school assemblies are held in the adjoining St Michael’s Church, reinforcing the supportive Christian ethos that underpins the school’s commitment to academic standards and personal development.
