About
Scoil Triest is a purpose‑built special school situated on the Lota campus in Glanmire, Co. Cork, operating under the patronage of the Brothers of Charity. It provides post‑primary education for students aged 12‑18 who have a dual diagnosis of autism and a moderate‑to‑mild intellectual disability. The school’s ethos centres on a warm, caring environment that nurtures each learner’s academic, spiritual, physical, social, moral and emotional development, guided by the motto “Be As Good As You Can Be”. The curriculum is delivered through a blend of small‑class teaching, specialised subject sessions and a wide range of educational resources designed to support individual pacing and meaningful participation. A robust team of classroom teachers, part‑time subject specialists, Special Needs Assistants and support staff work collaboratively to ensure high‑quality planning and a strong focus on student wellbeing. Facilities include dedicated learning spaces, sensory‑friendly areas and access to the broader Brothers of Charity campus, enabling students to engage confidently with both school‑based and community activities. With a current roll of seventy‑two pupils, Scoil Triest offers a structured daily programme (09:30‑15:10) that promotes inclusion, safety and personal growth. The school benefits from active parental and community involvement, reinforcing its commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment for all students.
