About
Scoil Úna Naofa is a co‑educational vertical primary school catering for children from Early Start (preschool) through Junior Infants to 6th Class. The school operates a junior special class, ‘Sonas’, and an Early Start unit that is one of only forty such units in Ireland approved by the Department of Education & Skills. While the school follows a Catholic ethos, it welcomes pupils of all faiths and none, fostering an inclusive, caring and nurturing environment where each child is encouraged to reach their full potential. The curriculum is delivered by a committed team of staff supported by an active Board of Management and a vibrant parent community. Facilities include dedicated classrooms for each year group, specialised spaces for the special class, and resources for early childhood development. The school’s timetable runs from 8.50 am to 1.30 pm for Junior and Senior Infants and until 2.30 pm for 1st‑6th Class, with a brief mid‑morning and midday break, providing a structured yet flexible learning day.
History
Scoil Úna Naofa traces its origins to 1939 when it opened as St Agnes’ Primary School, initially accommodating over 1,000 pupils with class sizes of around 50. Over more than 75 years the school flourished, supporting initiatives such as the St Agnes’ Music Centre (now the CCMA). In 2016 St Agnes’ amalgamated with Scoil Colm, a boys’ school for 1st‑6th Class, resulting in the formation of Scoil Úna Naofa. Under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, the school now serves a diverse community of over 400 children from Early Start through to 6th Class.
