About
Seamount College is a voluntary, co‑educational Catholic secondary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Galway. Situated on a five‑acre campus overlooking Kinvara Bay, the school benefits from a spectacular natural setting, with the 7th‑century Dunguaire Castle to the north‑east and the Burren mountains to the south. This unique backdrop is intended to inspire students as they pursue their studies in a caring, respectful environment. The college’s mission is to provide a holistic, Christian education supported by parents, aiming to develop the full potential of each learner. Teaching and learning are directed towards fostering a healthy self‑image and the adaptability required in a rapidly changing world. The school is bolstered by an active Parent’s Council, Student’s Council and dedicated members of the Board of Management, all working to enhance teaching facilities, the physical building and the wider grounds.
History
Seamount College celebrated the centenary of post‑primary education in 2022, marking 100 years since its establishment in the early 1920s. The school has grown from its original foundation to become a well‑served institution within the west of Ireland, maintaining its Catholic ethos while expanding its curriculum and community involvement.
