About
Holy Family National School is a co‑educational, Catholic primary school situated in Shanagarry, County Cork. The school’s ethos is built around providing a well‑ordered, caring, happy and secure environment where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of pupils are identified and nurtured. While the Catholic ethos is central, the school recognises and respects all other religions, fostering an inclusive community that values diversity and mutual respect. The curriculum is complemented by a wide range of extra‑curricular programmes designed to develop confidence, teamwork and a love of learning. Annual initiatives such as the Active Flag challenges, Active Week, the Run Around Ireland and Olympic “Road to Beijing” projects encourage physical activity, creativity and community engagement. The school also maintains a “School Walkway” and participates in Creative Schools projects, providing pupils with varied learning environments beyond the classroom. A strong partnership with parents is promoted through the Parents’ Association and regular communication channels. The school’s policies and procedures, including those related to attendance, special educational needs and health and safety, are clearly outlined to support a transparent and supportive educational setting.
