About
SN an Croí Ró Naofa (Belclare National School) is a co‑educational Catholic primary school situated in the village of Belclare on the outskirts of Tuam, County Galway. Operating under the patronage of the Archbishop of Tuam, the school provides a well‑ordered, caring and secure environment that seeks to meet the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of its pupils. A positive code of behaviour, based on encouragement and reward, underpins the school’s ethos and promotes strong relationships between children, parents and staff. The curriculum is complemented by a broad programme of extra‑curricular activities. Pupils can take part in a wide range of sports—including football, soccer, hurling, rugby, basketball and handball—both during break times and in organised competitions. Weekly visits to a well‑stocked school library, regular use of iPads and laptops, and participation in STEM‑focused projects such as the Christmas Village initiative enrich the learning experience. The school also offers after‑school programmes such as Irish dancing, music classes and organised outings, and it actively engages with national initiatives like Maths Week, Science Week and Engineering Week, bringing specialist coordinators into the classroom.
