About

Scoil Fhiachna is a rural, co‑educational primary school located in Glengarriff, approximately 18 km west of Bantry. Operating under the patronage of the Bishop of Kerry, the school welcomes children of all faiths and nationalities, fostering an inclusive community where respect for diverse beliefs and cultures is central. The school provides education for pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, with enrolments of just over 50 children, allowing each learner to be known individually and supported according to their academic, artistic, social and sporting strengths. The learning environment is warm, caring and well‑structured, with a strong partnership between staff, parents and the Board of Management. The curriculum follows the Department of Education’s primary programme, covering English, Irish, Mathematics, SESE (history, geography, science), Arts Education, Physical Education, SPHE and Religious Education. Facilities include three spacious classrooms, a dedicated art room, a large play area and high‑speed broadband connectivity provided through the national school broadband scheme, ensuring modern digital resources are available to enhance teaching and learning. A small, dedicated team of teachers, a learning‑support specialist and special‑needs assistants work together with part‑time administrative and cleaning staff to maintain a safe, well‑resourced setting. The school places a strong emphasis on responsibility, positive behaviour and the holistic development of each child, encouraging pupils to enjoy school life while adhering to a clear code of conduct.
