About

Scoil Naomh Bríde is a Catholic primary school situated in the Gaeltacht area of Tulach Ú Chadhain (Tullokyne), one of four schools serving the Parish of Moycullen. The school provides three mainstream classes for children from junior infants to sixth class, complemented by a full‑time learning support/resource teacher and additional specialist support from neighbouring schools. All subjects on the Primary Curriculum are delivered in English, but there is a strong emphasis on the daily use of Gaeilge, reflecting the community’s linguistic heritage. The school offers a broad, holistic programme that balances academic learning with a rich extracurricular portfolio. Pupils can take part in Gaelic football, hurling, handball, soccer, basketball, swimming, and receive weekly violin lessons. Environmental stewardship is promoted through solar panels, a school garden, and pollinator strips maintained by the children. After‑school clubs include Irish dancing, drama, yoga, coding, and art, alongside a daily homework club. The school day runs from 8:30 am, with assemblies at 8:50 am and formal lessons beginning at 9:00 am; younger classes finish at 1:30 pm and older classes at 2:30 pm. Uniforms feature a red fleece or sweatshirt with the school crest, a white polo, and navy trousers or skirts.

History

The school was originally built in 1862 and underwent significant extension and refurbishment in 2002. It has since continued to serve the local community as a centre for primary education within the Gaeltacht region of Tulach Ú Chadhain.
