About
St Brendan’s National School in Eyrecourt, County Galway, is a co‑educational primary school that serves the local community with three mainstream teachers. The school is organised into three distinct classroom groups – Infants & 1st class, 2nd‑4th class and 5th/6th class – allowing pupils to progress through a structured, age‑appropriate curriculum while benefiting from small‑class teaching. The ethos is rooted in Catholic values yet the school explicitly welcomes children of all denominations, fostering an inclusive environment that respects diversity and encourages each child to develop their unique gifts. The school benefits from a range of on‑site facilities that support both academic and extracurricular learning. Pupils have access to a dedicated playground, a sports pitch, and a combined basketball/volleyball court, as well as a coloured‑marked yard that provides safe, engaging space for play and physical activity. In addition, St Brendan’s makes regular use of the nearby Eyrecourt Library and the Community Hall, extending learning opportunities beyond the classroom and strengthening ties with the wider community. The school’s mission, in partnership with the Board of Management, parents and local community, is to nurture responsible, caring members of a Christian community while promoting personal growth and academic achievement.
