About

St Brigids Junior National School is a mixed‑gender junior school catering for children from Junior Infants to Second Class. The school delivers the Irish primary curriculum within a Catholic ethos that emphasises a caring, supportive environment and the holistic development of each pupil. Teaching and learning are underpinned by a positive, collaborative culture that involves pupils, parents and the wider community, fostering strong relationships and a sense of belonging throughout the school. The school benefits from a range of dedicated facilities, including a purpose‑built multisensory room designed to support diverse learning needs and enhance sensory development. Uniforms are provided to promote equality and school identity, and a well‑structured timetable ensures a balanced day, with junior infants beginning at 8.50 am and senior classes concluding at 2.30 pm. Regular communication through a noticeboard, calendar, and an active Facebook page keeps families informed of events such as talent shows, seasonal celebrations and community activities, reinforcing the school’s vibrant community spirit.

History

St Brigids J.N.S. opened in 1982 in temporary premises at Aylesbury, initially serving pupils who travelled by bus each day. In September 1984 the school relocated to its current site in Brookfield, Tallaght, with an enrolment of 73 children. Numbers grew rapidly, reaching a peak of 576 pupils in 1985. On 31 August 1986 the school split to form St Brigids Junior National School and St Aidans Senior National School. Since then the school has continued to evolve under successive leadership, with the current principal appointed in 2018.
