About

Saint Brigid’s National School is a Roman‑Catholic primary school located in the heart of Greystones, Co. Wicklow. It provides education for children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class in a happy, safe and stimulating environment. The school’s curriculum is designed to develop academic achievement alongside social, personal, moral and spiritual growth, with a strong emphasis on inclusive practice and the use of the Irish language. Resources such as an online learning hub, a dedicated Irish language collection and a range of after‑school activities—including a basketball league and a new autism class—support a holistic approach to learning. The school benefits from modern facilities, including well‑equipped classrooms for each class level, a library, and specialised spaces for creative and physical education. Video tours of the Junior and Senior Infant classrooms give prospective families a clear view of the learning environment. Parents can access a variety of support services through the Parents’ Association, the PA page and the school’s comprehensive policies, ensuring transparent communication and a strong partnership between home and school.

History

Established in 1906 by the Holy Faith Sisters, Saint Brigid’s began as a private Catholic day school on the La Touche Estate. The present school building opened in November 1973. Originally a girls’ school (Junior Infants to Sixth Class) with boys only to First Class, it became a fully co‑educational vertical school in September 2000, serving Junior Infants through Sixth Class. Management transferred from the Sisters to the parish of Holy Rosary & St Kilian on 1 October 2001. The Holy Faith Sisters celebrated a centenary in Greystones in 2006, marked by a visit from President Mary Mc Aleese.
