About
St Christopher’s Primary School is a Catholic co‑educational primary school serving Junior Infants through 6th class. Situated in a newly‑constructed building on the former secondary school site on Haddington Road, Ballsbridge, the school provides a modern learning environment with spacious classrooms, a well‑stocked library, a large PE hall and ample outdoor play areas. A dedicated support‑teaching team works alongside 24 mainstream classes to deliver a high‑quality curriculum that incorporates ongoing assessment and personalised progress discussions, ensuring each pupil’s academic and personal development is closely monitored. The school embraces an inclusive ethos, welcoming children of all faiths and backgrounds while upholding Catholic values under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin. Facilities also include on‑site before‑ and after‑school care, enabling families to balance work and education commitments. The teaching staff are fully qualified and bring a diverse range of experiences and special interests, fostering a vibrant, supportive community focused on nurturing curiosity, respect and lifelong learning.
History
St Christopher’s Primary School was created through the amalgamation of St Brigid’s Primary School (established 1902) and St Mary’s Boys’ National School. The merger, overseen by the Board of Management, resulted in a new co‑educational institution housed in a purpose‑built building on Haddington Road. During the transition period, all classes became mixed‑gender in preparation for the move. The school now operates under the Department of Education and Skills, following the Revised Curriculum for Primary Schools, and continues the legacy of its predecessor schools while providing modern facilities for its pupils.
