About
St. Cillian’s Mixed National School is a small Catholic primary school situated on Robinhood Road in Bluebell, Dublin 12. With a roll of just 36 pupils, the school offers a close‑knit community where every child is known and supported. The school provides education for Junior and Senior Infants through to 6th Class, operating from 8:50 am to 1:30 pm for the younger classes and until 2:30 pm for the older classes, Monday to Friday. The educational approach centres on play‑based learning, encouraging children to explore through art, music, design, construction and cooking experiences. A well‑maintained school garden and a range of extracurricular activities promote outdoor and active learning, while the curriculum follows the Primary School Curriculum (1999) with an emphasis on Christian values, respect, inclusion and academic excellence. The school’s modest facilities include colourful classrooms, a garden space and easy access to local transport links, fostering a pleasant atmosphere for both learning and social development. Strong parental involvement and a supportive board of management underpin the school’s ethos of “Helping Each Other” and “Having fun while we learn”, creating a nurturing environment where pupils can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
History
St. Cillian’s Mixed National School was founded in 1934. The original building has remained largely unchanged since the 1930s, preserving its historic character. Recent plans have been announced to develop the school over the coming years, reflecting a commitment to modernising facilities while retaining its long‑standing community roots.
