About
St. Corban’s Boys National School is a Catholic‑ethos primary school situated in Naas, County Kildare. The school places a strong emphasis on respect, kindness, honesty, forgiveness and responsibility, fostering a warm, inclusive community where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally. Learning is approached holistically, with a focus on building confidence, lifelong curiosity and active citizenship. The curriculum is enriched by a wide range of extra‑curricular activities, including sport, STEM projects and cultural events, all designed to nurture a love of learning in a safe and happy environment. The school is preparing for a major transition, welcoming girls for the first time in September 2026 and moving into a new purpose‑built facility. The upcoming building will provide 16–24 mainstream classrooms, a dedicated Special Needs Unit, a sports hall, a library/computer room and learning support rooms. Plans also include an all‑weather pitch, additional play areas, soft‑play spaces for infants, a sensory garden and other amenities that will further enhance the educational experience for all pupils.
History
St Corban’s Boys National School opened in 1954 on a site known as Brannigan’s Field, replacing the Christian Brothers School at the Moat and the Green School on Kilcullen Road. The school expanded rapidly, attracting families from across Ireland and abroad, including Brazil and Russia. Christian Brothers’ direct involvement ended in 1997 with the retirement of Brother Brennan, though the Brothers’ ethos of quality education remains integral to the school’s identity. Recent years have seen significant growth, a new school building project and the forthcoming reconfiguration from a boys‑only to a co‑educational institution.
