About

St. Enda’s National School, Kilnadur is a mainstream co‑educational primary school serving Junior Infants to Sixth Class. Set in the picturesque townland of Kilnadur in West Cork, the school enjoys panoramic views of the Derrynasaggart Mountains and benefits from a modern extension added in 2012 alongside the original 1865 building. The school operates under a Catholic ethos while welcoming children of all faiths and none, fostering an inclusive community where pupils are encouraged to learn and grow academically, physically, intellectually, spiritually, socially and emotionally. The campus comprises two spacious classrooms, two Special Educational Needs (SET) rooms, an office, staffroom and a large hallway used for displays and activities. Outdoor facilities include a generous playground, a grass football pitch and a well‑tended garden where pupils cultivate flowers and vegetables. The school’s curriculum is broad and balanced, integrating digital learning tools such as iPads alongside traditional subjects. Its ethos, reflected in the motto “Cairde ag foghlaim le chéile” (friends learning together), promotes friendship, collaboration and holistic development for every child.

History

Kilnadur National School opened in 1865. In 2001, Kilnadur National School amalgamated with Johnstown National School to form the present St Enda’s National School, Kilnadur.
