About
St. Feichín’s National School is a small Catholic primary school situated in the picturesque village of Abbey at the foothills of the Sliabh Aughty mountains (Eircode H62 FY64). The school operates a two‑teacher model complemented by a full‑time Special Educational Needs (S.E.T.) teacher, providing a close‑knit learning environment where each pupil receives personalised attention. The curriculum is delivered across a Junior Room (junior infants to second class) and a Senior Room (third to sixth class), with a focus on nurturing academic achievement, personal development and the spiritual ethos of the Catholic tradition. The school day runs from 9:00 am, finishing at 1:40 pm for the junior and senior infants and at 2:40 pm for the remaining classes. A Sonas Breakfast Club and after‑school service are available from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, supporting families with extended care. Uniforms consist of a navy crested jumper with a light‑blue stripe, a blue polo shirt and navy trousers or skirt, and can be purchased online or from the Schoolwear Centre in Galway. The school’s ethos emphasises a supportive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages every child to reach their full potential.
