About
St Feichin’s National School is a vibrant primary school situated in the historic village of Fore, North Westmeath. The school provides a safe, happy environment where each child is valued as a unique individual. Its ethos is built around fostering self‑esteem, confidence and respect, encouraging pupils to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, spiritually and morally through a rich and varied curriculum. The school benefits from modern facilities that have been expanded in 2008 and 2013, complementing the original 1896 building. A recent EU‑funded grant under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan enabled the purchase of new laptops and tablets and the upgrade of existing ICT equipment, ensuring every learner has access to digital devices that support numeracy, literacy and special educational needs provision. Strong links with the local community and active parental involvement further enrich the educational experience, while the school’s commitment to holistic development prepares children for lifelong learning.
History
St Feichin’s National School was established in 1896 in the historic village of Fore, a site associated with St Feichin’s 7th‑century monastery. The original building was extended in 2008 and again in 2013 to accommodate growing enrolment and modern educational provision. The school continues to celebrate and preserve its heritage while delivering contemporary education.
