About
St John’s National School is a small, rural primary school situated in the village of Logboy, within the parish of Bekan, Co. Mayo. Established in 1893, the school serves a close‑knit community of around 35 pupils and offers a warm, homely atmosphere that prioritises both learning and wellbeing. The curriculum is wide, varied and differentiated, designed to meet the needs of all learners and to foster a love of discovery from an early age. The school benefits from a dedicated team that includes two full‑time class teachers, a full‑time special educational needs (SEN) teacher and additional support staff such as a school nurse aide, secretary, cleaner and caretaker. This staffing structure enables personalised attention, inclusive practice and a safe, well‑maintained environment. The ethos “Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh siad” (Praise the youth and they will come) underpins the school’s commitment to nurturing confidence, resilience and community spirit among its pupils.
