About

St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule is a co‑educational German‑Irish school situated in south Dublin, catering for pupils aged 4‑18. The school blends the Irish curriculum (Junior and Leaving Certificate) with a strong, continuous German language programme that begins in Kindergarten and continues through to the Leaving Certificate, enabling students to achieve a high level of German proficiency and, where desired, the German Sprachdiplom. The curriculum is designed to develop abstract thinking, academic rigour and bilingual competence, preparing learners for university study in Ireland and across Europe. The school operates on a Eurocampus model, sharing its campus with the Lycée français international Samuel Beckett since 2001. This partnership creates a truly European learning environment, fostering cultural exchange and a sense of European citizenship. Facilities include dedicated spaces for early years, primary and secondary teaching, specialised language labs, and areas for extracurricular activities such as sport and the arts. The ethos promotes an inclusive, nurturing and safe atmosphere where pupils of all nationalities, cultures and religions can thrive academically and socially.

History

St. Kilian’s was established as a German‑Irish bilingual school and, in 2001, expanded its European focus by creating the Eurocampus through the relocation of the Secondary School of the Lycée français international Samuel Beckett to the St. Kilian’s Clonskeagh campus. This development marked the first step towards offering a true European‑style education in Dublin, integrating German and French educational traditions alongside the Irish system.
