About
St. Multose National School is a co‑educational, State‑funded primary school in Kinsale operating under the patronage of the Church of Ireland. The school provides mainstream education from Junior Infants to 6th class together with a dedicated special class for pupils on the autistic spectrum. Its curriculum is delivered within a Christian atmosphere that values partnership with parents and the wider community, and places religious education at the centre of learning. The school’s ethos promotes a safe, happy environment where dignity, individuality and moral values such as truthfulness, fairness and civic responsibility are nurtured. It is recognised as a Green School and an Active School, encouraging environmental stewardship, physical wellbeing and mental health. Facilities include three regular classrooms, a specialised ASD classroom, a uniform dress code of navy jumper and light‑blue polo, and access to a school choir linked with St Fin Barre’s Cathedral. The daily routine features a structured timetable with assemblies, breaks and a lunch period, supporting a balanced academic and social experience for all pupils.
History
St Multose National School has served the Kinsale community since the late 19th century, with records indicating a foundation date of 1895 (and earlier references to a school existing from 1890). The present premises opened in 1986 and have been extended three times to accommodate growing enrolment and the addition of a special education class.
