About
St. Patrick’s National School in Clogh provides primary education in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment. The school’s ethos centres on developing the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually – with a strong emphasis on happiness, self‑esteem and moral responsibility. While rooted in a Roman Catholic tradition, the school welcomes pupils of all faiths and backgrounds, fostering a caring community where “cheerful” attitudes and helping hands are encouraged. The learning environment is supported by modern facilities, including a recent extension to the original 1994 building and a digital initiative funded by the 2021 NRRP grant, which supplied tablets to bridge the digital divide for learners at risk of disadvantage. A 360‑degree virtual tour allows prospective families to experience the classrooms and playgrounds online. The school participates in the DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) programme, focusing on improving attendance, literacy, numeracy and overall wellbeing, and maintains a comprehensive suite of policies covering safeguarding, acceptable use, and child‑friendly practices.
History
The school celebrated a new building in 1994, marked by a pupil‑designed crest that incorporates symbols of learning, local heritage and St Patrick. In November 2019 a new Board of Management was elected for a four‑year term. In 2021 the school received a National Recovery and Resilience Plan grant to purchase tablets and support learners facing educational disadvantage.
