About

St Vincent’s Convent Primary School is a Catholic primary school situated on St Mary’s Road in the Shandon area of Cork City. The school currently educates around 230 pupils and is in the process of becoming fully co‑educational by 2025, with boys being admitted from Junior Infants to 5th class from September 2024. As a school under the trusteeship of the Religious Sisters of Charity, it follows a strong Catholic ethos while welcoming children of all faiths and none. The curriculum is delivered by a team that includes an administrative principal, mainstream class teachers, Special Educational Needs teachers, a language‑support teacher and a Home School Community Liaison teacher, ensuring a supportive learning environment for every child. The school’s mission reflects the vision of the foundress Mary Aikenhead, aiming to develop a sense of Christian meaning alongside moral, social, cultural and intellectual growth. It positions itself as a community learning centre where collaboration between management, staff and parents is central to nurturing each pupil’s unique gifts. A broad range of extracurricular activities – including music, STEM projects, sports, digital literacy, a school garden, Green Schools initiatives and a student council – enriches the educational experience and encourages students to become confident, caring members of society.
