About
Templebreedy National School is a small Church of Ireland parish primary school situated in the village of Crosshaven. It operates under the patronage of the Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross and serves the Templebreedy Group of Parishes. The school occupies a historic site donated by the Hayes family of Crosshaven House, positioned alongside Holy Trinity Church, and provides education for children across three mainstream classrooms. The school delivers a broad, balanced curriculum that embraces the seven core areas of education, including Religious Education, English, Irish, German, Mathematics, Social, Environmental and Scientific Education, History, Geography, Science, and the Arts (Visual Arts, Music, Drama). Physical education is enriched with activities such as hockey, swimming and court tennis. Modern technology is woven into daily learning, with computers and iPads used as integral classroom tools. Regular outings to theatres, cultural sites and guest‑speaker visits enhance the programme, while strong links with the local church and active parental involvement reinforce the school’s ethos of nurturing each child to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.
History
The current school building was opened in 1881. A major refurbishment of the facilities was undertaken in 1999, updating the environment while retaining the historic character of the premises.
