About
Togher Boys’ National School is a Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Archbishop of Cork and Ross, welcoming children of all nationalities, religions and cultures. The school places the child at the centre of every activity, providing a stimulating and happy learning environment that balances academic rigour with play‑based discovery. Teaching is organised in multi‑grade classrooms, allowing younger pupils to learn from older peers and fostering independent learning, responsibility and strong social skills. The curriculum follows the “new curriculum” principles – child‑centred, activity‑based, thematic and integrated – with a strong emphasis on partnership between teachers and parents to support each child’s wellbeing. The school’s facilities support a broad range of extracurricular interests. Pupils regularly engage in football through the Lough Leagues, participate in Lego and table‑tennis clubs, and take part in the Active Schools “Active Break Every Day” programme. Recent workshops have explored autism and neurodiversity, reflecting a commitment to inclusive education and holistic development.
