About
Zion Parish Primary School is a co‑educational national school under the patronage of the Church of Ireland, situated beside Zion Parish Church in the village of Rathgar, South Dublin. The school operates four multi‑grade classrooms that combine junior and senior infants, first and second classes, third and fourth classes, and fifth and sixth classes, providing a seamless learning environment for pupils aged 4‑12. Teaching is supported by two support teachers and a special needs assistant, ensuring that additional learning needs are met within the mainstream setting. The school’s ethos is rooted in the Anglican tradition, promoting honesty, charity, kindness, patience and personal responsibility while welcoming children of all faiths and none. A strong emphasis is placed on the moral, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical and social development of each pupil, with a “Be Kind and Gentle” golden rule guiding daily interactions. Religious Education follows the Department of Education guidelines and incorporates the “Follow Me” programme, respecting families’ rights to withdraw their child from RE lessons if required. In 2021 the school received a Next Generation EU grant as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan, enabling the provision of iPads, digital literacy and numeracy subscriptions and upgraded Wi‑Fi infrastructure. This initiative narrows the digital divide and supports learners at risk of educational disadvantage, reinforcing the school’s commitment to inclusive, modern education.
